Hours 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required to support evening and weekend rugby activities, events, and emergency maintenance when necessary.
Reporting to Facilities Manager
Overview The Maintenance & Facilities Team Member will play a vital role in ensuring the rugby club remains safe, clean, operational, and professionally presented at all times. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the clubhouse, changing facilities, spectator areas, external spaces, and associated infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent all-round DIY and maintenance skills, with practical experience or qualifications in areas such as:
· Joinery / Carpentry
· Electrical maintenance
· Plumbing
· Decorating
· General building repairs
· Grounds and facility upkeep
This role requires someone who is self-motivated, organised, dependable, and capable of identifying issues before they become problems.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Facilities Manager in the general upkeep and maintenance of the site
Carry out routine maintenance and repair work across all club facilities
Complete minor electrical, plumbing, joinery, and decorating tasks
Repair fixtures, fittings, doors, windows, locks, flooring, furniture, and equipment
Respond promptly to maintenance issues raised by staff, members, and management
Ensure all maintenance work is completed to a high standard
Assist with the upkeep of car parks, pathways, fencing, signage, and external structures
Carry out seasonal maintenance duties including gritting, snow clearance, and weather preparation
Work alongside grounds staff or contractors where required
Provide occasional operational support during matchdays, tournaments, and club events
Assist with setup and breakdown of hospitality, sponsorship, and function spaces
Help ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operational during busy periods
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Strong practical DIY and maintenance skills
Experience in general building maintenance or facilities management
Knowledge of joinery, carpentry, plumbing, decorating, or electrical repairs
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
Good problem-solving abilities
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude
Good communication and teamwork skills
Awareness of health and safety procedures
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Formal qualifications in joinery, electrical work, plumbing, building maintenance, or related trades
Experience working within sports clubs, schools, hospitality venues, or community facilities
First Aid qualification
Knowledge of compliance and facilities legislation
Experience operating maintenance equipment and tools
