Role Purpose
The Senior Nursery Lead is responsible for providing strong day to day leadership within their designated nursery area, ensuring that children receive the highest possible standards of care, learning and development.
The role will cover 30 hours per week, over five days.
The Senior Nursery Lead will act as a positive role model for all practitioners, providing guidance, support and encouragement to the staff team. They will promote reflective practice, effective teamwork and a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is valued, listened to and supported to reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nursery School Manager and Nursery Director and will contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the nursery.
We will evaluate our staff regularly to ensure that children receive the highest possible standards of care. Prospective employees will go through a rigorous interview process to ensure suitability for the position.
Qualifications and Experience
You will be qualified to HND / PDA / SVQ 4 or equivalent, and ideally be working towards BA Childhood Practice, SCQF Level 9 or equivalent.
You should have relevant experience within Early Learning and Childcare and demonstrate a strong understanding of children's development, current ELC practice and the importance of high-quality relationships, care and learning.
You must be confident, flexible, enthusiastic and committed to supporting and developing both children and colleagues.
Duties
- Provide dynamic leadership and management to nursery staff, ensuring high-quality care and educational standards are maintained at all times
- Develop and implement engaging curriculum plans that support children’s developmental milestones and promote early learning skills
- Supervise daily activities, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for children, staff, and visitors
- Foster strong communication with parents and guardians, offering updates on children’s progress and addressing any concerns promptly
- Conduct regular staff training sessions to enhance team skills in childcare best practices and health & safety protocols
- Oversee compliance with all regulatory requirements related to childcare licensing, health & safety standards, and safeguarding policies
- Manage administrative tasks including rostering, record keeping, incident reporting, and maintaining nursery documentation

Pay: £13.45-£15.45 per hour
