GMP Recruitment are proud to partner with a well-established and successful engineering manufacturer based in Herefordshire. We are recruiting on their behalf for a CNC Machinist to join their production team on a full-time Temp to Perm basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and motivated individual to join a skilled engineering environment, producing high-quality components for hydraulic cylinders using CNC machinery.
The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced team of CNC Machinists and the CNC Section Leader/Manager. The role also offers a clear development pathway, with opportunities to progress from CNC Operator through to CNC Setter and CNC Programmer as skills and experience develop.
CNC Machinist Main Duties:
- Operating CNC machinery to manufacture components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Producing parts in accordance with route cards and production requirements.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Setting up and preparing your work centre for production and job changeovers.
- Carrying out regular quality inspections on completed components.
- Using measuring equipment including micrometres, thread gauges, groove gauges and other precision measuring tools.
- Monitoring machine performance and reporting any defects or issues to the CNC Section Leader/Manager.
- Ensuring machinery and the surrounding work area are maintained to a good standard.
- Booking jobs on and off the company's computerised system.
- Monitoring machine schedules and working to agreed production timescales.
- Working towards production KPIs including machine utilisation, efficiency and cycle times.
- Supporting the identification of root causes where production performance is below expectations.
- Ensuring components are cleaned, correctly stacked and prepared for the next stage of production.
- Taking responsibility for the quality of parts produced.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and wearing the required PPE at all times.
- Reporting any accidents, near misses or potential hazards.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities across the production environment.
CNC Machinist Experience Needed:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment. (Essential)
- Previous experience operating CNC machinery. (Essential)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. (Essential)
- Ability to follow route cards and detailed production instructions. (Essential)
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres and gauges. (Essential)
- Good basic mechanical and practical skills. (Essential)
- Computer literate with the ability to use systems for job booking and viewing production schedules. (Essential)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality components. (Essential)
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment. (Essential)
