This is a hands-on supervisory opportunity suited to someone with a strong background in transport operations, fleet compliance, driver management and health & safety.
You will be responsible for helping to ensure that daily deliveries and collections are planned and completed efficiently, while maintaining high standards of legal compliance, safety and customer service.
About the Opportunity
Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will supervise a team of HGV and van drivers and work alongside the warehouse team to ensure vehicles are loaded, dispatched and operated safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will need to be organised, confident and proactive, with the ability to manage the pressures of a busy transport environment while ensuring that safety and compliance remain a priority.

- Assisting with warehouse loading activities and ensuring vehicles are loaded safely and correctly.
- Carrying out regular vehicle safety and compliance checks.

- Ensuring drivers comply with drivers' hours, tachograph requirements and Working Time Regulations.
- Completing regular driver licence and compliance checks.
- Supporting risk assessments and ensuring appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Delivering toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings where required.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and ensuring follow-up actions are completed.
- Maintaining accurate transport, safety and compliance records.
- Monitoring relevant KPIs and providing operational information to management.
- Supporting internal and external audits and inspections.
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture across the transport, warehouse and yard areas.
- Escalating significant operational, safety or compliance concerns appropriately.
