Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Cook to join our care home team for a part-time role, working three days a week from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. In this vital position, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring a high standard of food safety and quality. Your enthusiasm and culinary skills will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel cared for and valued through the food they enjoy each day.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils
- Assist with meal portioning, presentation, and serving to residents in a friendly and professional manner
- Follow recipes accurately while accommodating special diets or allergies as needed
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients, report shortages, and assist with basic inventory management
- Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
- Good communication skills for working collaboratively with staff and serving residents
- Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential
- Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for delivering quality meals that enhance residents’ well-being
