We're opening a new Mathnasium centre in Bishop's Stortford and are looking for bright, enthusiastic Maths Tutors to join our team.
This is a hands-on teaching role working with children from primary school through to GCSE level. You'll use the Mathnasium method to help students understand maths in a way that makes sense to them, build confidence and make real progress.

- Deliver the Mathnasium curriculum with confidence, enthusiasm and energy.
- Work with students individually and in small groups.
- Help students stay motivated, engaged and challenged.
- Support students to build strong maths understanding and confidence.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents and the centre manager.
- Record student progress accurately.
- Help create a positive, welcoming and fun learning environment.
About You
We're looking for people who are strong at maths, enjoy working with children and can explain ideas clearly.
Essential:
- GCSE Maths grade 8 or 9.
- A Level Maths at grade A or A* (or working towards).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident, friendly and professional.
- Energetic and enthusiastic when working with students.
- Patient and able to explain maths in different ways.
- Reliable, punctual and committed. A genuine interest in helping children succeed.
- Candidates who can commit to working with us throughout the year rather than for a short-term or summer role.
- Available for 2 or more shifts per week, ideally from 3.30pm - 7.30pm Monday to Thursday, but start time can be flexible for the right candidate.
Preferred but not essential:
- Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching or mentoring experience.
- A degree involving maths or a numerate subject.
What We Offer
- Comprehensive training in the Mathnasium method.
- Ongoing coaching and development.
- A warm and friendly team environment.
- Keep your own mental maths sharp.
- A rewarding role where you can see the difference you make to students.
- Opportunities to take on more responsibility as the centre grows.
- The chance to become part of an international network of maths education specialists.
Hours
Most tutoring takes place after school and on Saturdays.
Typical centre hours are:
Monday–Friday: approximately 3.30pm–7.30pm
Saturday: 10.00am–2.00pm
We're particularly interested in candidates who can commit to 2–4 regular shifts each week, year-round. Ideally, your shifts will start at 3.30pm - some flexibility around start times could be available.
You will also need to be available for team meetings and training sessions, which will take place every 6 weeks on a Friday at 5.30pm.
This is an in-person role at our Bishop's Stortford centre and is not suitable for remote working.
As the role involves working with children, employment will be subject to appropriate safeguarding checks and satisfactory references.
If you love maths, enjoy working with young people and want a rewarding role where you can genuinely help children grow in confidence, we'd love to hear from you.
Pay: £10.00-£13.00 per hour
