Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated General Warehouse Sortation Operative/Supervisor to join our team . This role is vital to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our unit.
Shift pattern is 5am-1130am Monday to Saturday.
Your role will include the scanning and sortation of parcels of various sizes and weights into cages ready for collection by couriers from 8.30am.
This role will involve a split shift with the first few hours dealing with the parcel sortation along side a small team of staff, followed by 3hours supervising and managing of couriers to ensure there speedy departure and dealing with missing parcels and damages.
Other tasks involve ensuring the unit is tidy ready for the next day and any collections/returns from couriers are scanned and processed for return.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and organisation within the warehouse environment. Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position is within a fast-paced logistics setting and lots of manually handling is involved
Responsibilities
- Handling/processing parcels efficiently and safely.
- Operating manual pallet truck in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Scanning & sorting parcels within a tight timeframe from pallets into numbered cages ready for courier collection.
- Supervising Front of house duties - mainly authorising couriers prior to their departure ensuring they are missing no parcels and handing out high value segregated parcels.
- Adhering to health and safety protocols at all times, including heavy lifting procedures and hazard awareness
- Supporting the overall organisation of the warehouse to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
Experience
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for all operational procedures
- Familiarity with materials handling equipment such as manual pallet trucks is advantageous
- Experience in shipping & receiving processes, picking & packing, or stock management is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently, with good organisational skills to manage stock flow effectively
