York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the PACS Team as PACS Support Officer.
Working as a PACS support officer you will be primarily responsible for the sharing of confidential patient information with our partner organisations, providing first-line support for our Radiology IT Systems and dealing with enquiries in an effective and timely manner.
You will be a well organised , working in a methodical and structured way at all times, with the ability to think independently and solve problems.
Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills, enthusiasm for the role, be well-motivated and share a commitment to teamwork.
The technological remit of the department continues to expand and therefore the candidate would need to be open to continue learning of new systems and processes to meet the technology needs of the diagnostic imaging services.

You will be responsible for supporting the storage, retrieval and sharing of diagnostic medical images, including X-rays, CT and MRI scans. Working closely with the Radiology team, clinicians, administrative staff and external healthcare organisations, you will help ensure that imaging systems operate effectively and that patient information is managed accurately, securely and in accordance with information governance and data protection requirements.
You will act as a key point of contact for image-sharing activities, facilitating the timely exchange of diagnostic images and associated information to support patient care, treatment planning and clinical decision-making. This includes coordinating image transfers between healthcare organisations using a range of approved systems and ensuring that all associated records are maintained accurately. You will also support patients exercising their right of access to their healthcare information by processing requests for copies of diagnostic images and related information.
In addition, you will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of imaging systems, identify and report issues affecting service delivery, provide first-line support to users, and assist in the development of procedures, guidance and training materials to support the effective use of Radiology IT systems across the organisation.
