WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Someone with excellent culinary skills, creativity and passion with the ability to lead, manage and inspire a team. Successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter, a problem solver and a natural communicator who is focused, career-minded and driven.
The sous chef will work closely with the Head Chef and will be responsible for:
- Driving the kitchen forward towards obtaining accolades and winning awards
- Compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP and Health & Safety regulations
- The maintenance of consistency of taste and presentation of food.
- Working alongside the Head chef to produce creative, original dishes for the seasonal changing menu
- Working to set budgets for both food purchases and wages
- Championing and upholding the company values and ethos
- Maintaining equipment and the working environment to ensure operational excellence
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- The ideal candidate will be:
- Bright, confident and enthusiastic
- A strong character that can maintain effective communication with a diverse team
- Absolute focus on detail, consistency and perfection
- Understands the importance of team development and development of individuals
- Unflappable and able to work effectively under pressure
- Ambitious and eager to progress
- Experienced in fine dining and to a rosette standard.
Must haves:
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Creativity with – and passion for – seasonal British ingredients
- Extensive Modern and Traditional European cooking experience
- Able to quickly gain an understanding of specific business functions and take ownership of the resulting tasks
- A sound financial understanding of all aspects of running a busy kitchen
Whilst relevant experience is undoubtedly essential for this position, we are looking for someone with the intelligence, intuition and motivation to excel at the role; constantly wanting to better themselves and over deliver. Relevant training and a thorough company induction will be provided, but we will only consider candidates who have the skills and characteristics listed above.
