The role:
The Cook Freeze Production Unit is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Team Leader to join our Facilities Catering team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality meal services that directly support patient care across a number of hospital sites. As a Team Leader, you will coordinate and supervise operational activities across Production, Hygiene, Portioning, Packing & Freezing, and Goods In/Issue functions, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency and food safety. While a certificate in Intermediate food hygiene is preferred, it is not mandatory as training can be provided. However, experience in a large-scale food production or catering environment is essential for this role.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day activities of designated teams within the Cook Freeze Production Unit

Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining consistently high standards of quality and service
-
Support, motivate and develop staff through effective supervision, training and ongoing guidance
-
Monitor compliance with food safety, HACCP, COSHH, Health & Safety and Infection Control requirements

Allocate workloads and ensure all production, packaging, hygiene and goods distribution activities operate efficiently
-
Assist with stock control, goods receipt and dispatch processes while minimising waste and maintaining quality standards

Support the Team Manager with audits, staff development, service improvements and the management of day-to-day operational issues
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Knowledge and experience across key Cook Freeze Production Unit functions including production, packaging, chilling, freezing and goods distribution

City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 qualification or equivalent catering qualification

Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake training provided

Experience of supervising staff and supporting workforce development within a catering or production environment

Good communication skills with the confidence to handle enquiries, comments and complaints effectively

Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling and Infection Control practices

Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and adapt to changing service demands while maintaining high standards
