Job Title: Transport Compliance Supervisor
Location: Motherwell
Reports to: Transport and Fleet Manager
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours per week)

We have a large fleet of tankers and flatbeds delivering diesel, gas oil, home heating oil, lubricants, AdBlue®, gas bottles and fuel tanks out of those depots to a range of agricultural, commercial and domestic customers. We also sell fuel cards for drawing out our network of sites across the country.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Transport Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the compliance administration function and ensuring that all compliance processes are robust, accurate, and fully aligned with statutory obligations. Combining technical compliance knowledge with clear, confident communication, supporting managers to understand and apply regulatory requirements in day-to-day operations.
The role supports the Transport and Fleet Manager by supervising compliance activities, maintaining fleet compliance records, and providing guidance to staff and drivers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regulatory & Legal Compliance
Ensure compliance with:
- DVSA requirements
- Operator’s Licence (O-Licence) undertakings
- GTMR
- Drivers’ Hours & Working Time Directive
- Tachograph regulations
- Road Transport Regulations
- Vehicle ADR
- Monitor, audit, and report on compliance risks and breaches.
- Prepare documentation for DVSA audits, Public Inquiries, and Traffic Commissioner correspondence.
Communication & Manager Engagement
- Act as the main compliance point of contact for Depot Managers, Transport and Fleet Manager, Transport Director
- Translate complex legislation into practical guidance for managers.
- Proactively brief managers on: Compliance risks, Policy changes ,Audit findings, Required corrective actions, Vehicle Maintenance
- Escalate non-compliance issues clearly and professionally, recommending solutions.
- Communicate all ADR and MOT bookings with depot managers
- Act as the first point of contact for compliance queries within the transport team
- Provide guidance and support to compliance administrators and other transport staff
- Support the Transport Manager in auditing processes and improving compliance systems
- Assist in training drivers and staff on compliance-related procedures
- Liaise with external service providers and regulatory bodies when required
Driver & Manager Support
- Communicate Driver Compliance & Infringements
- Maintain accurate driver infringement records, KPIs and providing feedback to line managers and drivers
- Ensure vehicle and trailer check sheets are processed, matched with defects, and stored correctly
- Monitor driver hours and working time directive compliance, escalating breaches as necessary
- Track corrective actions and follow up with managers to ensure completion.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and system
