Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in domiciliary (home-based) care settings.
- Demonstrable experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy.
- Full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle — this is a mandatory requirement for the role.
Responsibilities
- Build trusting relationships with children and young people, offering mentorship and emotional support.
- Assist with daily activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and recreational outings.
- Support children in developing social skills, independence, and life skills through engaging activities and teaching moments.
- Provide informed, person-centred support to individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy, including awareness of seizure management and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and other professionals to create tailored support plans that meet individual needs.
- Encourage positive behavior and reinforce boundaries through consistent guidance and encouragement.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and daily activities in accordance with organizational policies.
- Promote a safe environment by monitoring activities and ensuring health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Travel to service users' homes and community locations as required by the role.
Skills
- Essential: Prior experience working in domiciliary care.
- Essential: Experience supporting children or young people with autism, learning disabilities, and epilepsy.
- Essential: Full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
- Strong mentoring abilities with a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members.
- Ability to teach new skills patiently and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
- Compassionate nature with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe space for all individuals.
