An exciting opportunity has arisen within our busy and friendly GP practices in Havant and Bedhampton for an experienced, organised, flexible and enthusiastic Receptionist to support our existing reception team.
We have a vacancy for zero hours hours a week with shifts between 0730-1830. Please do not apply if you are unable to work within these times as this is essential.
Previous experience of working in General Practice and EMIS clinical system is essential.
You should be able to demonstrate high standards of customer service and have excellent interpersonal skills working within a team. Working in a demanding and busy environment is required for this role.
Job Summary
- To facilitate patients accessing the clinical care provided by the practice
- To ensure that the Doctors and Practice Nurses have patient notes (if required) and any information relevant to the patients care prior to the consultation
- To act as first point of contact for anyone accessing the practice for advice, information or support
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that all visitors to the Practice are greeted professionally
- To ensure that all telephone callers are greeted professionally and that the call is managed appropriately
- To manage the flow of patients arriving for appointments, requesting or picking up repeat prescriptions, requests for test results and any other information that maybe required
- To ensure that the Doctors and Practice Nurses receive patient notes (if required) that are up to date, in correct order and contain any relevant information i.e. hospital letters/results.
- Scanning all correspondence as required
- To ensure that repeat prescriptions are generated accurately and efficiently in line with the Practice policy i.e. 48 hours turn around
- Entering data onto the computer as required
- Observe strict patient confidentiality at all times
- Compliance with any reasonable request from the Practice Manager/Doctors
- New patient registrations/removing outgoing patients
Key Tasks
- Greeting patients face to face and over the telephone
- Making/amending Appointments
- Flow of patients in the waiting room and at the reception desk
- Dealing with request for results/repeat prescriptions
- Registering new patients/Deducting patients who have moved on
- Instructing patients on the correct procedure for leaving specimens
- Ordering hospital transport
- Dealing with all correspondence as requested
- Follow correct process for repeat prescriptions
- Inviting patients for their review appointments
- Ensure adequate supplies of forms are available i.e. new patient forms/request forms/patient information leaflets
- Relaying messages to patients/clinicians
