Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Northwich from September. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff to provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, ensuring pupils receive the guidance they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play an important role in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment, adapting support to meet individual needs and encouraging pupils to develop independence and self-confidence. Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEND on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities that meet individual pupil needs.
- Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and confidence within the classroom.
- Implement strategies and interventions outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to monitor and report on pupil progress.
- Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to ensure accessibility for all learners.
- Support school routines including transitions, break times, and other pastoral responsibilities where required.
Experience
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is highly desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with varying needs.
- The ability to build strong professional relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's development and educational progress.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
