Class 2 Road Sweeper Driver

Pegasus Staff Services Burton Branch are currently recruiting for a Class 2 Road Sweeper Driver to work with our customer based in the Denstone/Uttoxeter area.
This is an ongoing role offering regular work, varied duties, and the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right person.
Working Hours
The role is generally Monday to Friday, however hours may vary depending on workload.
Weekend work will be required, with a minimum of 2 weekends per month. Some night work and nights out may also be required, subject to prior arrangement.
All work will be carried out in line with Drivers’ Hours Regulations and the Working Time Directive.
Pay Rates
- Basic rate: £15.72 per hour
- Weekend day bonus: £55
- Night bonus: £77
- PAYE, with PAYE + holiday accrual available
The Role
You will be responsible for operating Class 2 road sweeper vehicles, with some additional tanker/Jetvac work required during peak periods. Duties will include attending customer sites, delivering to waste tipping and recycling centres, completing paperwork, and ensuring all vehicle checks and safety procedures are followed.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily HGV walkaround checks
- Complete and return all paperwork accurately
- Operate Class 2 road sweeper vehicles safely and professionally
- Occasionally drive Class 2 tanker/Jetvac vehicles during busy periods
- Deliver to various waste tipping and recycling centres
- Liaise with customers and the transport office
- Report any delays, issues, or concerns in good time
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the vehicle
- Follow all health and safety procedures
- Work in line with Working Time Regulations and Drivers’ Hours
- Carry out lifting and manual handling where required
- Ensure you are fit to drive, including considering rest, medication, and alcohol intake
- Maintain good self-presentation and a professional attitude on site
Please note, some work may involve working at height, approximately 4ft from the ground, without a harness.
Requirements
- Full UK Class 2 / Category C licence
- Valid CPC card
- Valid Digi Tacho card
- Maximum of 6 points on licence for insurance purposes
- Good work ethic and reliability
- Strong communication skills
- Good geographical and logistical knowledge
- Flexible approach to start and finish times
- Ability to adapt to varied work and shift patterns
- Tanker or Jetvac experience preferred, but not essential
