We are a well-established furniture manufacturer based in East Lancashire, supplying high-quality products to customers across the UK. As our business continues to grow, we are looking to recruit an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to lead and develop our in-house transport operation.
Operating a fleet of approximately 30 commercial vehicles, our transport team plays a vital role in ensuring our products are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who wants to take ownership of the transport function, strengthen compliance, improve operational performance, and help support the continued growth of our business.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for the overall management of our transport operation, ensuring full compliance with our Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence and all relevant transport legislation.
You will work closely with our production, warehouse, customer service, and senior management teams to ensure deliveries are planned efficiently and our customers continue to receive an excellent service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of our fleet of approximately 30 vehicles.
- Ensure full compliance with the company's Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence and DVSA requirements.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, servicing, MOTs, and defect reporting.
- Manage driver performance, Driver CPC, licence checks, and ongoing training.
- Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Regulations, and tachograph legislation.
- Develop transport systems and processes that support our growing manufacturing operation.
- Monitor transport costs, fleet utilisation, fuel performance, and operational efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with production and warehouse teams to ensure deliveries meet customer expectations.
- Build a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
About You

- An experienced Transport Manager with a valid Transport Manager CPC.

Essential Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC.
- Experience managing an HGV fleet.

- Knowledge of Drivers' Hours, Tachograph Regulations, and Working Time legislation.
