Kitchen Project & Operations Manager
Callaghan Interiors – Twickenham / Teddington, South West London £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience
Full-time | Permanent
Callaghan Interiors is a family-run bespoke kitchen and furniture company, designing and manufacturing high-quality kitchens and fitted furniture from our own workshop in Twickenham.
We are looking for an experienced, practical and highly organised Kitchen Project & Operations Manager to take ownership of our projects from completed design through manufacture, installation and final completion.
This is a hands-on operational role sitting between our design team, workshop, fitters, suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
The successful person will become the central point of coordination for our live projects, making sure everyone has the information, materials and programme they need to deliver each job successfully.
The Role
Once a kitchen or furniture project has been designed, sold and signed off by our design team, you will take responsibility for moving it through the rest of the business.
You will manage multiple live projects at different stages and work closely with our designers, technical drawing support, workshop manager, cabinetmakers, spray team, fitters and subcontract trades.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of projects following handover from the design team
- Reviewing designs and specifications from a practical manufacturing and installation perspective
- Making sure all information required for production has been completed before a job reaches the workshop
- Planning upcoming projects with our workshop manager
- Coordinating materials, hardware and other items required for manufacture and installation
- Keeping track of multiple live projects and ensuring they remain on programme
- Making sure kitchens are complete and ready before delivery
- Planning and coordinating deliveries and installations
- Liaising with fitters throughout installation
- Identifying and resolving site issues quickly and practically
- Coordinating worktop templating and installation
- Coordinating plumbers, electricians, decorators and other trades where required
- Organising remakes, replacement items and return visits
- Managing snagging through to completion
- Handling and coordinating aftercare and smaller works
- Keeping customers and the relevant members of the team informed throughout the project
- Helping develop checklists and systems to reduce mistakes, remakes and delays
- Reviewing problems when they occur and helping prevent them from happening again
Who We’re Looking For
This role requires someone who is organised but also practically minded.
You need to understand that a kitchen looking correct on a drawing doesn’t necessarily mean it will be straightforward to manufacture or install.
We are therefore particularly interested in applicants with previous experience in bespoke kitchens, cabinetry, joinery, fitted furniture or kitchen installation.
You might currently be working as a:
- Kitchen Project Manager
- Installation Manager
- Kitchen Surveyor
- Production Coordinator
- Senior Kitchen/Furniture Fitter looking to move into management
- Cabinetmaker with strong organisational and site experience
- Technical kitchen or furniture designer with good practical knowledge
Previous hands-on fitting, cabinetmaking or surveying experience would be a significant advantage.
What We’re Looking For
You should be:
- Comfortable managing several projects simultaneously
- Highly organised and able to prioritise
- Practical and confident solving problems
- Able to read and understand kitchen and furniture drawings
- Familiar with how bespoke cabinetry is manufactured and installed
- Able to anticipate potential fitting and site issues
- Confident communicating with customers, workshop staff, fitters and subcontractors
- Comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions
- Detail-focused without losing sight of the overall programme
- Confident using computers and project-management systems
CAD experience and experience producing technical drawings would be useful, but this is primarily a project and operations role rather than a CAD position.
About Callaghan Interiors
Callaghan Interiors is an established second-generation family business specialising in bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture across South West London and the surrounding areas.
Our projects are designed by our in-house design team and our bespoke furniture is assembled and finished through our own workshop before being delivered and installed for our clients.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking for someone who can become a key member of our management team and take real ownership of project delivery.
This isn’t simply an administrative project-management position. We are looking for someone who enjoys being involved, understands how things are made and fitted, and takes satisfaction from seeing a project through from drawings to a successfully completed installation.
There is significant scope for the role and responsibility to grow alongside the business.
