About the Role
The Disability Resource Centre are supporting with the recruitment for a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant & Carer to provide one-to-one support for a female with ataxia-telangiectasia syndrome. This rewarding role involves supporting her both at home and in the community, enabling her to live an active, fulfilling, and independent life.
The individual enjoys music, films, cinema trips, meals out, and attending concerts. We are looking for someone who is positive, encouraging, and motivated to help her participate in the activities she enjoys.
Hours
- Mondays & Fridays: 9:00am – 4:00pm (14 hours per week)
- Flexibility is required to cover annual leave and sickness for other carers in the team.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support social activities such as concerts. Advance notice will always be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including showering and dressing and supporting with daily routines
- Support with eating and drinking throughout the day
- Assist with accessing healthcare appointments and community activities.
- Accompany and support trips to the cinema, cafés, restaurants, concerts, and other social activities.
- Carry out light household duties, including laundry and general cleaning.
- Encourage independence while providing safe, respectful, and person-centred support.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to meet the individual's needs.

Experience
Previous experience in care or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training and guidance will be provided. We welcome applicants with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting others.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to your own vehicle.
- Confident driving on motorways and travelling outside the Luton area.
- Willingness to provide occasional cover for annual leave, sickness, and pre-arranged evening or weekend social activities.
