We are looking for a highly efficient and dynamic credit controller to join our Finance Department at Grant Westfield, Edinburgh.
Reporting to the Transactional Finance Manager you will be a vital part of the credit control function, ensuring all outstanding debts are collected on time. You will support the finance department, implementing relevant policies and procedures of the company. You will also contribute to maintaining a healthy cash flow and optimising our financial performance.

Objectives of this role
- Ensure credit control policies and procedures are implemented effectively to minimise credit risk.
- Responsible for collecting overdue accounts and applying strategies to encourage timely payments.
- Maintaining positive relationships with customers while effectively mitigating credit risks and ensuring timely collections.
- Monitoring credit exposure and minimising bad debt risks of the organisation.
- Coordinate and collaborate with finance colleagues and other departments such as customer service and sales to handle and resolve all AR related matters appropriately
Your tasks
- Monitor customer accounts to resolve queries, ensuring timely payments and address any payment delays or discrepancies promptly.
- Evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers through credit checks and payment history in order to process on system.
- Set appropriate credit limits for customers based on risk assessment and maintain accurate credit files and records.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, providing excellent customer service and addressing their queries or concerns related to credit matters.
- Engage with customers to establish payment plans, negotiate payment terms and resolve billing disputes.
- Monitor and manage the credit control processes, ensuring adherence to the company’s policies and procedures.
- Implement strategies set out by GW to minimise late or non-payment by customer, including initiating collection actions and negotiating payment plans.
Required skills and qualifications
- Strong knowledge of UK credit control principles, practices and regulations.
- Proficient in using financial software and credit management tools – ERP systems
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate financial information.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office – preferably intermediate Excel skills
- Ability to implement accounting principles and practices effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build a good relationship and effectively resolve disputes.
- Ability to work confidently, independently and within a team environment.
Preferred skills and experience
- Experience in handling a high volume of transactions.
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders
- Good working knowledge of monthly accounting cycles
- Experience with ERP systems, Epicor is an advantage.
- A good team player.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
