You work at our hospital in Baldock, either on a part time (30 hours) or full time (37.5 hours) .The working hours are 9am to 5pm.
You will join a friendly, skilled and enthusiastic psychology and therapies team within a vibrant multidisciplinary team, delivering a comprehensive therapies programme to inpatients with a wide range of mental health needs.

Your starting responsibilities will be tailored to your experience and your progression criteria will be agreed with you as part of your personal development plan and not imposed on you. When you meet the criteria for Senior Clinical Psychologist responsibilities, your job title and salary will change to match. You will be supervised throughout by our Head of Therapies, a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with clinical oversight of all your work as you grow into service-wide leadership, consultation to the hospital's senior leadership team, and supervision of Assistant Psychologists and trainees.
What we are looking for:
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent) — this post is open to Clinical Psychologists only;
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical), or eligibility for immediate registration — 2026 qualifiers are warmly encouraged to apply;
- Experience of psychiatric inpatient settings (including training placements);
- Sound knowledge of a wide range of mental health conditions and personality disorder, and experience with psychometric assessment;
- Experience of working with adults and older adults across the full range of clinical severity, including behaviours of concern (PBS knowledge desirable)
- Strong communication skills and an interest in supporting colleagues to use psychological thinking in their work.
What the role involves:
- You will provide high quality specialist psychology services to the in-patients at the hospital who present with a wide range of complex mental health conditions, as well as physical health needs; and work as part of the multidisciplinary team (Psychology; OT; Psychiatry; Nurses; other specialities) .
- You will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines, agencies and carers.
- You will be clinically responsible to a Head of Psychology and Therapies – Clinical Psychologist who will have a clinical oversight of all work and service delivery.
- You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing the Company policies and procedures.
- You will provide support to Assistant Psychologists and trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post.

Baldock Manor is rated Good by the CQC, whose most recent report specifically recognised the contribution of our Therapies team.
