Job Description
Freeway Recruitment are actively seeking experienced Class 2 (LGV C) Home Delivery Drivers to work for our client, a leading multinational DIY and building materials supplier based in Crewe.
Due to increased demand a, we have regular ongoing work available, with working patterns covering Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday rotating each week
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 2 drivers looking for consistent work, regular shifts and competitive PAYE rates, with immediate starts available.
Position
Class 2 Home Delivery Driver
Pay Rates
- Monday to Friday: £15.42 per hour PAYE
- Overtime after 9 hours per shift Monday to Friday: £23.13 per hour
- Saturday: £23.13 per hour for all hours worked
- Holiday pay: 12.07%, either added to your hourly rate or accrued for payment at a later date
- Minimum 8 hours paid per shift
Working Days
- Monday to Friday – shifts available
- Tuesday to Saturday – shifts available
- Regular ongoing work available for suitable drivers
- Minimum 5 days' work available per week
- Immediate starts available
You must be flexible and able to work the required shift pattern.
Start Times 07:00 am
The Role
You will be working as part of a double-manned delivery team, delivering building materials and DIY products directly to customers' homes.
The vehicles used will typically be 7.5-tonne or 10-tonne box wagons equipped with tail lifts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Arriving on site on time and completing the required 15-minute vehicle walkaround checks
- Assisting your porter or second driver with loading the vehicle
- Completing approximately 10–22 deliveries per day, depending on the route
- Delivering a mixture of palletised and handball goods, including some heavier-than-usual items
- Completing inter-store collections and returns where required
- Using the company's end-to-end digital delivery system
- Using onboard/supplied satellite navigation to complete delivery routes
- Providing a professional and customer-focused service at customers' homes
- Ensuring the safety and security of all goods while loading, transporting and delivering
- Maintaining a high standard of health and safety for yourself, colleagues, customers and other road users
Full training will be provided on the company's digital delivery system and delivery processes.
Training
Successful candidates will be required to complete 2 days of training following completion of their first 80 hours.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A full and valid Class 2 (LGV C) licence
- Held your Class 2 licence for a minimum of 2 years
- At least 12 months' consistent experience operating Class 2 vehicles
- A full and valid Digital Tachograph Card
- An in-date Driver CPC qualification
- No more than 6 points on your licence
- No DR, DD, IN, CD or other endorsements that could result in a driving ban
Previous experience in home delivery is advantageous but not essential, provided you have the required Class 2 driving experience and are comfortable with customer-facing work and manual handling.
