About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the successful delivery of multiple construction projects across Ministry of Defence (MOD) Army bases throughout Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Applicants must have a strong background in commercial construction, with experience delivering projects such as schools, warehouses, industrial facilities, public sector buildings, or similar commercial developments. Experience working under JCT forms of contract is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple construction projects across MOD and defence-related sites.
- Lead project teams including Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget, quality, and client requirements.
- Administer and manage projects under JCT forms of contract, including contractual correspondence, change control, and risk management.
- Monitor project performance, commercial progress, and resource allocation.
- Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to manage costs, variations, valuations, and final accounts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with MOD security requirements, health and safety legislation, and company procedures.
- Conduct regular site visits, progress meetings, and project reviews.
- Identify and mitigate project risks while driving operational efficiency.
- Support business development activities and contribute to securing future work opportunities.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable experience delivering commercial building projects such as schools, warehouses, industrial units, public sector buildings, healthcare facilities, or similar.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of JCT forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contract management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain MOD security clearance.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience delivering projects on MOD, defence, or secure government sites.
- SMSTS qualification.
- CSCS Black Card.
- Relevant construction-related degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification.
- Membership of a recognised professional body such as CIOB or RICS.
