Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced HGV Class 1 Driver specializing in General Haulage to join our client dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating large commercial vehicles to transport goods efficiently across various routes. Your expertise will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 trucks for general haulage deliveries across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with legal standards
- Load and unload cargo with care, ensuring proper securing of loads using appropriate equipment such as flatbeds when necessary
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including delivery notes, logs, and vehicle inspection reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transport
- Follow all health and safety procedures to protect yourself, colleagues, and the cargo being transported
- Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally during deliveries and pickups
Skills
- Proven experience as a commercial driver with a focus on general haulage operations
- Strong knowledge of driving regulations and safety standards for HGV vehicles
- Experience with ratchet straps and securing techniques is highly desirable
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks related to loading/unloading cargo when required
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients
- Familiarity with route planning software or GPS systems for efficient deliveries
