We are seeking a dedicated and professional Phlebotomist to join our DNA testing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients accurately and efficiently, ensuring a high standard of patient care and safety. Duties
- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture techniques with precision and care
- Verify patient identities and ensure proper labelling of specimens to prevent errors (we train you on this)
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols (we train you on this)
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards
- Provide clear and empathetic communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns
- Record relevant patient information accurately using IT systems (we do this for you)
- Follow all infection control guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Experience
- Previous experience in phlebotomy or a related healthcare setting is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and compassionately
- Experience in teaching or mentoring others is advantageous but not required
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure specimen accuracy and safety standards are maintained
