Bandstand! is an exciting new hospitality concept from the team behind Deep North - an established artisan doughnut and speciality coffee business with successful sites across the North East.
Located in the heart of Exhibition Park, the venue will be an all-day destination serving speciality coffee, brunch, pizza, soft serve ice cream, natural wine, local craft beer and community events in a relaxed, design-led environment.
The Role
We are looking for a talented and passionate Chef with strong pizza experience to join our opening kitchen team.
This role is perfect for someone who loves producing exceptional food using high-quality ingredients and takes pride in consistency, speed and craftsmanship.
You'll work closely with the Senior Chef to maintain excellent food standards while helping create an enjoyable, supportive kitchen culture.
Key Responsibilities
Pizza Production
- Prepare, stretch and cook high-quality pizzas to consistently high standards.
- Manage pizza service during busy lunch and evening periods.
- Monitor dough quality, fermentation and stock levels.
- Maintain consistency across every pizza served.
Food Preparation
- Prepare ingredients to specification.
- Assist with brunch service including eggs, breakfast dishes, bowls and seasonal specials.
- Support preparation for BBQ events, evening pop-ups and seasonal menu changes.
- Ensure presentation standards are maintained across every dish.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain excellent organisation and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
- Follow all food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Complete daily cleaning schedules.
- Rotate stock correctly and minimise waste.
- Help manage deliveries and stock storage.
Teamwork
- Work closely with the Head Chef and front of house team.
- Support junior chefs and kitchen assistants where required.
- Maintain positive communication during busy service.
- Contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal specials.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience working in a busy professional kitchen.
- Strong pizza experience (wood-fired or stone-baked preferred).
- Experience stretching and cooking fresh dough by hand.
- Calm under pressure.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Passion for quality ingredients.
- Good understanding of food safety.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
Desirable
- Experience with naturally fermented sourdough.
- Brunch kitchen experience.
- BBQ or outdoor event catering experience.
- Experience working in independent restaurants or cafés.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
