About the Department
The Volume Crime Unit (VCU) tackles PIP1 crime across the City of London and works closely with Response, Local Policing and CID, sharing an open plan office environment with CID.
The unit deals with offences including commercial robbery and burglary, theft, assault, handling stolen goods, racially aggravated offences and public order offences. This role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on victims of crime and contribute to keeping the City one of the safest places in the UK.
This is a plain clothes role offering a good work-life balance, with no night shifts and a shift pattern that allows for regular weekends off. It is an excellent opportunity for officers looking to develop investigative skills and progress into detective or specialist roles.
Essential Criteria:
This opportunity is open to Police Constables (internal and external applicants) who can demonstrate:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise workload and perform under pressure
- Effective organisational and workload management skills
- Commitment to delivering a high standard of service to victims of crime
Desirable Criteria
- Familiarity with NICHE (or willingness to learn)
- PNC trained or willingness to undertake training
- Experience investigating PIP1 crime and preparing case files
- Understanding of CPIA and disclosure requirements
