Transport Manager – Nationwide Fuel Tanker Operations
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to join our team in Rotherham.
Operating a fleet of articulated HGV fuel tankers, we provide nationwide fuel collection and delivery services, maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the safe, legal, and efficient operation of our transport activities. The successful candidate will be named on our Standard International Operator's Licence and will play a central role in maintaining full compliance with all relevant transport legislation, including ADR requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operation of a fleet of articulated HGV fuel tankers.
- Ensure full compliance with our Standard International Operator's Licence obligations.
- Oversee driver compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive, tachograph regulations, and road transport legislation.
- Plan and optimise vehicle movements to maximise operational efficiency while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, MOT planning, inspections, and defect reporting.
- Ensure all ADR transport activities are carried out safely and in accordance with current legislation and company procedures.
- Lead, support, and develop a team of professional tanker drivers.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Maintain accurate transport records and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, maintenance providers, and regulatory authorities as required.
- Monitor transport KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements:
- Current Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Haulage.
- Previous experience managing an HGV fleet.
- Thorough knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements and DVSA compliance.
- Strong understanding of drivers' hours, tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive, and vehicle maintenance compliance.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
- Experience managing articulated tanker operations.
- Experience within ADR-regulated transport, ideally involving petroleum or hazardous goods.
- Knowledge of fuel distribution and petroleum logistics.
- Experience working with FORS, Earned Recognition, or other compliance and quality management systems.
