We are looking for an experienced Optical Assistant, Dispensing Assistant, or optical professional who would enjoy providing a few hours of flexible, remote administrative support each week.
- This is a small but varied role for someone who truly understands optics and can take confident ownership of general business and personal administration.What You’ll Be DoingOptical Administration (Non-Clinical)
- Order Management: Processing and tracking contact lens and spectacle orders from completed clinical instructions.
- Supplier Liaison: Communicating directly with optical laboratories and suppliers.
- Order Tracking: Proactively chasing outstanding orders, deliveries, and delays.
- Patient Coordination: Contacting patients to arrange routine follow-up appointments.
- Record Keeping: Managing general, non-clinical optical administration and digital records.
- Business & Personal Assistant (PA) SupportB2B Liaison: Communicating with our accountants, suppliers, and external businesses.Contractor Research: Finding, sourcing, and arranging services or utility contractors.Quote Compilation: Obtaining quotes, comparing prices, and presenting clear options.Logistics: Booking appointments and handling practical arrangements.Ad-Hoc Tasks: Managing a small number of property-related and personal admin tasks.
- Example task: Arranging an electrician to quote for installing a bathroom heater, gathering three competitive options, and summarizing them briefly for a quick decision.
- About YouYou must have previous experience working in a UK optical practice (e.g., as an Optical Assistant, Dispensing Assistant, or similar).

Hours & Flexibility
