PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £30,000-£40,000 + London Weighting (£5,441) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

The BBC is growing and developing its portfolio of editorial email newsletters for international audiences.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Newsletter Editor to help us build, engage and retain these readers by creating lasting relationships – both in the inbox and with BBC.com and its app.
They will curate, write, edit and produce content for multiple editorial newsletters, working as part of a team of journalists. They will make data- and audience-informed decisions that help develop reader habit and community.
It is a job for a journalist with solid editorial judgement, sharp attention to detail, an eye for creating engaging digital content and a solutions-focused mindset.
They will work on newsletters serving audiences outside the UK, with a particular focus on those in North America.
The role is based in London and hybrid working is possible. It sits within the Newsletters team in the Commercial News division of BBC Studios and reports to the Senior Newsletter Editor.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT :
The Newsletter Editor writes, curates and edits newsletter content, working with journalists in Features and Curation teams to a series of deadlines across a weekly schedule.
Works on the production of multiple newsletters for international audiences, including The Essential List, Health Fix, Future Earth and In History.
Maintains BBC editorial standards and values across newsletter output, ensuring content goes through required checks before it is sent to audiences.
Monitors newsletter reader mailboxes and responds to/acts on feedback where suitable.
Maintains newsletter templates, including updating promotional boxes to reflect priorities.
Uses data-powered insights, and knowledge of the market, to produce regular performance reports. Makes suggestions for improvements and to inform long-term editorial strategy.
Experiments with subjects, formats and creative ways to produce habit-forming products.
Works with the wider newsletters team to help identify and develop new concepts that are distinctive and help to enhance the BBC’s global reputation.
Builds and maintains close working relationships with colleagues in the wider BBC and develops relationships with correspondents, helping to showcase their work in the inbox.
Acts as an ambassador by communicating best newsletter practices between teams.
Keeps abreast of industry trends, considering what developments mean for the BBC.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA :
A high standard of editorial judgement based on recent experience as a journalist.
Proven ability at writing and editing editorial content (news or features) in email newsletters – or on digital platforms – with sharp attention to detail, accuracy and flair.
Experience of taking editorial decisions quickly, seeking advice where appropriate, while under pressure to meet deadlines and a changing agenda.
Appreciation of how newsletters can drive growth, develop habit and build communities.
Formal journalism qualifications, including media law.
Understanding of analytics and experience of using them to develop ideas.
Knows how a team works effectively.
Able to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people.
Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to conflicting priorities.
DESIRED NOT REQUIRED :
Experience of working on editorial newsletters.
Demonstrable interest in editorial features categories such as Earth, Health, Culture, Travel.
Experience working in News, either reporting or editing.
Background in working within matrixed organisations and distributed global teams.
