360 Excavator Operator
Location: Felixstowe, Suffolk
Start Date: 1st October 2026
Duration: 28 Weeks
Rate: £220 – £230 per day, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, site-based
Job Overview
Ernest May are currently recruiting for an experienced 360 Operator to join a major civils and infrastructure project in Felixstowe.
The project involves the removal of a large existing crane track used for container handling, followed by the installation of a new, significantly larger crane track. The works will include extensive groundworks, drainage, excavation, concrete and civils activities.
We are looking for a competent and experienced Machine Operator with a strong background in civils and groundworks to operate plant safely and efficiently throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating excavators and other relevant plant safely and efficiently
- Carrying out excavation and earthworks to required levels
- Assisting with drainage installation and groundworks
- Working around existing services and infrastructure
- Supporting the removal of the existing crane track
- Assisting with preparation and installation of the new crane track
- Working from drawings and site specifications
- Carrying out daily plant checks and reporting defects
- Following RAMS and site safety procedures
- Working closely with the Ganger, General Foreman and wider site team
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and productivity
Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Machine Operator on civils/groundworks projects
- Experience operating excavators on major infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of excavation, drainage and groundworks
- Experience working around live services and existing infrastructure
- Ability to work accurately to levels and specifications
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Good communication skills
- Reliable and hardworking attitude
Tickets / Qualifications
Candidates must hold the relevant plant tickets, ideally including:
- CPCS or NPORS Excavator Ticket
- CSCS Card
- Relevant experience operating 360 excavators
- Any additional relevant plant tickets would be advantageous
