Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation is looking for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role behind the scenes, supporting practical science across Biology, Chemistry and Physics and helping create an inspiring learning environment where pupils can discover, experiment and develop a lifelong curiosity about science.
From preparing experiments to ensuring every laboratory is safe and fully equipped, your work will help pupils experience science through exciting, hands-on learning every single day.
About the Role
As our Science Technician, you'll support the day-to-day running of our laboratories by:
- Preparing equipment, chemicals and materials for practical science lessons.
- Setting up and clearing away laboratory apparatus.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and specialist resources.
- Monitoring and replenishing stocks of chemicals and consumables.
- Helping ensure laboratories are safe, organised and ready for teaching.
- Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations where required.
- Promoting high standards of health and safety across the department.
We're Looking for Someone Who:
- Has a scientific background or laboratory experience.
- Is organised, practical and enjoys hands-on work.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Can manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
- Enjoys working as part of a friendly team.
- Is committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
A science qualification or previous experience working in a laboratory or school environment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
