About Us
RT Solar powered by OVO is a busy renewables company operating as a franchise of OVO, delivering renewable technology installations across the South Midlands which centres around Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. Work can also be further afield and you may be required to stay overnight on occassions with notice. We specialise in solar PV, battery storage, air source heat pumps, air conditioning and associated retrofit works, and will ultimately transition towards operating as OVO South Midlands.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for someone experienced in installing Air Conditioning but have a wider interest in Air Source Heat Pumps. You must have a current FGAS Certificate.
The Role
This role is specifically focused on air conditioning installations (air to air heat pumps). We are looking for someone with proven experience working on air conditioning systems. You should also be interested Air Source Heat Pumps and we will ultimately put you through a L3 ASHP Qualification in addition to Water Regulations and Unvented qualifications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for plumbing and heating works associated with air conditioning and assisting with ASHP installations, including copper pipework, heating system upgrades, fitting new radiators, cylinder connections and associated retrofit works.
This is not a general plumbing role. We need someone who understands air conditioning and low-temperature heating, neat pipework, domestic retrofit work and the importance of getting the installation right first time.
Knowledge of electrics, heating controls or wiring centres would be beneficial, although a full electrical qualification is not essential.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential
- Experience of installing Air Conditioning/Air-to-Air Heat Pumps
- FGAS Qualification
- Ideally holds a recognised Air Conditioning qualification or relevant manufacturer training.
- Practical experience installing and adapting copper pipework.
- Experience fitting and replacing radiators as part of heating system upgrades.
- Ability to work neatly in occupied domestic properties.
- Able to read and follow drawings, specifications and installation packs.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Good communication skills and professional customer manner.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Reliable, practical and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification.
- G3 unvented hot water qualification.
- Water Regulations qualification.
- CSCS card.
- Confident using hand tools, pipe benders, press-fit or soldered pipework systems.
- MCS knowledge or experience working to renewable installation standards.
- Experience installing or connecting unvented hot water cylinders.
- Experience with heat pump cylinders, buffer tanks, pumps, valves and controls.
- Knowledge of heating controls, wiring centres, thermostats, motorised valves or basic electrical fault finding.
- Experience in social housing, retrofit or occupied domestic properties.
