Private Housekeeper – Doncaster Area
15–20 hours per week | £15–£17 per hour depending on experience | Permanent
An established private household in the Doncaster area is looking for an experienced, proactive and highly organised Private Housekeeper to take genuine ownership of the day-to-day care and running of a busy family home.
This is not a cleaning-only role. While maintaining an exceptionally clean and beautifully presented home is an important part of the position, we are looking for someone who can offer much more than this.
The right person will take pride in looking after the home as a whole, noticing what needs doing, keeping things organised, managing laundry and household supplies, helping with shopping and occasional meal preparation, and generally making sure the home runs smoothly without needing to be given a task list each day.
Once you've learned how the family likes things done, you'll be trusted to manage your own time, priorities and workload. We're looking for someone who naturally sees what needs attention and takes the initiative to deal with it.
What you'll be doing
The role will include:
- Maintaining the home to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and presentation
- Taking ownership of general housekeeping rather than working from a fixed cleaning checklist
- Managing laundry, ironing, clothing care and household linen
- Changing beds and ensuring bedding and towels are always fresh, organised and properly managed
- Keeping wardrobes, cupboards, drawers and household areas organised and tidy
- Monitoring household supplies and proactively replenishing everyday essentials
- Food shopping and occasional simple meal preparation, as required
- Noticing the small things that need attention and dealing with them without always needing to be asked
- Helping to create a calm, organised and well-run home
- Other general household duties as agreed
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys taking care of a home and takes personal pride in doing things well.
You'll ideally have previous experience as a private housekeeper, professional housekeeper or in another role where exceptional standards, organisation and attention to detail were expected.
More importantly, you'll be someone who:
- Understands the difference between completing cleaning tasks and taking genuine ownership of a household
- Has exceptional attention to detail and high personal standards
- Is naturally proactive and sees what needs doing without waiting for instructions
- Is highly organised and confident managing their own workload and priorities
- Takes pride in leaving a home not just clean, but beautifully presented, organised and running smoothly
- Is trustworthy, discreet and respectful of the privacy that comes with working in someone's home
- Is warm, reliable and comfortable becoming a trusted part of a family's day-to-day life
- Is happy working independently and taking responsibility for maintaining consistently high standards
- Has a full UK driving licence and their own vehicle
The role
- Hours: 15–20 hours per week
- Pay: £15–£17 per hour, depending on experience
- Location: Doncaster area

- A full DBS check and satisfactory references will be required
