Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing enriching and engaging activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior care, particularly with experience in dementia care, and will be responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating various activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, ensuring inclusivity for all.
- Coordinate with care staff to assess the needs and preferences of residents, particularly those requiring dementia care.
- Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outings to enhance social engagement.
- Maintain clear communication with residents to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
- Document participation levels and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes to continuously improve offerings.
- Collaborate with family members and external organisations to enhance activity options available to residents.
- Ensure a safe environment during all activities, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Experience
- Previous experience in an activity coordination role within assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Strong understanding of senior care principles, particularly in relation to dementia care.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and staff alike.
- A creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative programming that meets the needs of diverse resident populations.
- Empathy and patience when working with elderly individuals, fostering a supportive atmosphere.
