Department: Haulage
Hours: 48 hours per week on an average roster, working 5 shifts per week
Shift Pattern: Night shifts, with start times typically between 11:00pm and 2:00am
We are recruiting for a reliable and motivated HGV Class 2 / Category C Driver to join a busy haulage and distribution team based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced HGV drivers and newly qualified Class 2 drivers who are looking to develop their career. Full training and ongoing development opportunities are available.
The Role
As an HGV Driver, you will play an important role in the distribution operation, delivering fresh dairy products and associated goods to retail customers across the region.
This is a multi-drop, temperature-controlled delivery role, requiring a professional and customer-focused approach. You will be responsible for ensuring deliveries are completed safely, accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of product quality and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Safely operating HGV Class 2 / Category C vehicles
- Completing multi-drop deliveries to customers across the region
- Working in accordance with UK driving laws, Driver CPC and tachograph regulations
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting any defects
- Loading and unloading products safely
- Undertaking manual handling duties and using appropriate handling equipment
- Ensuring correct stock rotation and maintaining product quality
- Following all relevant health and safety, food hygiene and security procedures
- Providing a professional and friendly service to customers
- Working independently while maintaining good communication with the wider transport team
- Providing cover for colleagues during holidays and absences when required
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A full UK driving licence with Category C entitlement
- A valid Driver CPC qualification
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- To be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A reliable, professional and hardworking approach
- Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends and bank holidays
- The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively
