Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic educational team in a Leicester City Primary School. Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during lessons, ensuring they understand and engage with the curriculum.
- Assist students with disabilities or autism in developing social, communication, and behavioral skills through targeted activities.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to teachers and specialists to inform ongoing support strategies.
- Help prepare teaching materials and adapt resources to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Foster a nurturing environment by mentoring students, promoting confidence, independence, and motivation.
Skills
- Strong understanding of special education principles and experience working with individuals with disabilities or autism.
- Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring children across various age groups.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and specialists.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and needs.
- Compassionate, patient, and energetic approach to supporting children’s development.
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and strategies for supporting social-emotional growth.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team dedicated to inclusive education.
