About Us:
Davenport House is a Grade I listed wedding and events venue set in Shropshire. We are a family-run, dynamic, expanding business operating across luxury hospitality and wellness.
We’re looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking, and ambitious Finance and Accounts Manager to become a key part of our team and ensure smooth, strategic financial operations as we scale. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to grow with us, make a real impact, and help shape the future of a thriving business.
The Role:
As Finance and Accounts Manager at Davenport House, you will:
- Take full ownership of all financial transactions for the business using Xero, including incoming and outgoing invoices, payments, and reconciliation.
- Prepare quarterly projections, financial reports, and budgets in collaboration with the Directors.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and budgeting, ensuring all financial reporting is timely, accurate, and compliant as well as reconciliation of accounts, bank statements, and intercompany transfers
- Set and monitor KPIs across departments and sites
- Provide oversight for financial operations across all divisions of the business, including the main events venue.
- Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to streamline operations and aid future growth.
- Provide financial insight and support for strategic decisions and future expansion plans.
- Oversee VAT returns, PAYE, pension submissions, and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations
- Liaise with external accountants and advisors on year-end accounts, audits, and tax planning
- Assist with payroll (via Xero or integrated systems), staff expenses, and supplier payments
- Streamline financial systems and reporting using Xero automation tools and apps (e.g., Hubdoc, Dext, ApprovalMax)
- Implement best practices for invoice management, reporting dashboards, and real-time financial insights
- Prepare all necessary financial documents for year-end and liaise directly with the accountant for submission.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Ideally, you will have completed your accountancy training (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or be qualified by experience.
- Advanced Xero proficiency (multi-organisation setup, reporting, integrations)
- Experience in financial control, budgeting, and cash-flow management is essential.
- Familiar with financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience within the hospitality or events industry is desirable but not essential.
Skills and Attributes:
- Dynamic, motivated, and forward-thinking, with a “can-do” attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills — able to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Integrity and discretion — we are a family business and trust is key.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Ambition to grow and develop alongside the business in a long-term role.
What We Provide:
- The opportunity to become a key player in a fast growing business.
- Opportunity to shape financial strategy across prestigious and purpose-driven brands
- A permanent, full-time role at Davenport, surrounded by a dynamic, forward thinking team.
- The chance to help shape the future direction of the business.
- A warm, supportive workplace where your input and expertise will be valued.
