The Role
Due to continued growth, CDR M&E Services is looking for an experienced Electrical Services Supervisor (QS) to take ownership of our commercial electrical works across the business.
This is a hands-on supervisory and management role sitting between our electricians and senior management.
We're looking for someone who understands both domestic and commercial electrical services and can take a job from the initial enquiry through to successful completion, while also taking responsibility for the technical standards and compliance of our electrical department.
You'll be involved in surveying, scoping, estimating, procurement, planning, technical support, supervision, quality assurance and certification, while remaining willing to get involved on site when required.
The successful candidate will also act as, or progress into, the company's NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) and play an important role in maintaining the technical and compliance standards of our electrical operations.
The position would suit an experienced Electrical QS, Electrical Supervisor, Approved Electrician, Senior Electrician or Electrical Contracts Engineer looking to take the next step in their career.
As our electrical division continues to grow, there will be genuine opportunity for this position to develop into an Electrical Contracts Manager / Electrical Divisional Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Surveying domestic & commercial electrical works
- Producing clear and accurate scopes of work
- Assisting with estimating and preparing quotations
- Identifying labour, materials, plant and equipment requirements
- Procuring materials and equipment
- Planning and coordinating electrical works
- Allocating and supervising electricians, apprentices and subcontractors
- Providing technical support and guidance to electricians
- Attending sites to assess faults and technical issues
- Managing works from initial enquiry through to completion
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and site representatives
- Monitoring labour, materials and job costs
- Identifying variations, remedial works and additional opportunities
- Ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Carrying out quality inspections and site audits
- Reviewing electrical certification and test results
- Ensuring electrical certification is accurate and completed within required timescales
- Supporting and maintaining NICEIC compliance
- Ensuring electrical works comply with BS 7671 and relevant legislation
- Supporting EICR programmes and associated remedial works
- Supporting planned and reactive electrical maintenance contracts
- Assisting with RAMS and safe systems of work
- Ensuring correct safe isolation procedures are followed
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices and developing electricians
- Helping develop and improve our electrical service delivery
This isn't a purely office-based position. You'll remain technically involved and may occasionally be required to assist electricians on site, particularly with complex faults, surveys, testing, commissioning and technical issues.

Qualifications & Experience
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be fully qualified electricians with strong experience working within commercial electrical environments.
Essential Electrical Qualifications
Applicants should hold relevant current electrical qualifications, including:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation / Electrotechnical qualification or equivalent
- BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification – City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent
We would also expect:
- Strong experience working within commercial electrical environments
- Excellent electrical fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Strong inspection and testing experience
- Strong understanding of BS 7671
- Experience completing and reviewing electrical certification
- Experience with EICRs and associated remedial works
- Good understanding of commercial electrical distribution systems
- Ability to survey and scope electrical works
- Ability to identify labour, materials and plant requirements
- Experience supervising or supporting electricians and apprentices
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe systems of work
- Strong organisational and customer communication skills
- Good commercial awareness
- Full UK driving licence
