Experienced Assistant Manager – The Boat Inn
Location: The Boat Inn, Stockton, near Rugby and Southam
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Pay: Competitive and dependent on experience
The Boat Inn is a busy, family-run canalside country pub serving freshly prepared food and quality drinks in a friendly, welcoming environment.
We are looking for a confident and experienced Assistant Manager to support the owners with the day-to-day running of the pub.
Applicants must have at least one year’s experience working specifically in an Assistant Manager or similar supervisory management position within a pub, bar or hospitality venue.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the owners with the daily management of the pub
- Leading and supervising the front-of-house team
- Opening and closing the premises
- Delivering consistently high standards of customer service
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving problems professionally
- Managing busy food and drink services
- Taking table reservations and helping coordinate larger bookings
- Training, supporting and motivating team members
- Cash handling, till management and end-of-day procedures
- Monitoring stock and assisting with ordering
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Ensuring licensing, health and safety procedures are followed
- Taking responsibility for the business when the owners are unavailable
The successful candidate will:
- Have at least one year’s experience as an Assistant Manager or in a comparable hospitality management role
- Have strong experience in a busy food-led pub, bar or restaurant
- Be confident leading a team and working independently
- Be friendly, reliable, organised and professional
- Remain calm and effective during busy services
- Have excellent customer-service and communication skills
- Be willing to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Be hands-on and prepared to help wherever needed
- Have a genuine interest in helping a growing independent pub succeed
This is a hands-on position and would suit someone who enjoys being involved in every part of the operation. You will be joining a friendly, family-run business where your experience, ideas and contribution will be genuinely valued.
