We are fast-growing plumbing and heating wholesaler supplying independent merchants across the UK. We specialise in high-demand plumbing products.
We are growing quickly and are now looking for a strong Business Development Manager to open new merchant accounts, grow existing relationships, and help scale the business.
The Role
We are looking for a field-based BDM who understands the plumbing and heating merchant market.
Your job will be to visit independent plumbing merchants, build relationships, open new accounts, and grow monthly sales across your territory.
This is a hands-on field sales role. You must be comfortable walking into trade counters, speaking with branch owners/managers, and building repeat business.
Responsibilities
- Visit independent plumbing and heating merchants daily
- Open new trade accounts
- Grow existing customer spend
- Promote fast-moving plumbing products including plastics and heating supplies
- Build strong relationships with branch owners, buyers, and counter staff
- Log all visits, notes, opportunities, and follow-ups in CRM
- Report weekly on visits, new accounts, pipeline, and sales opportunities
- Gather market feedback on pricing, competitors, and products
- Work closely with the internal sales/admin team to process quotes and orders
What We’re Looking For
- Experience selling into merchants, or trade counters
- Strong field sales background
- Confident face-to-face communicator
- Self-motivated and target-driven
- Organised with good follow-up discipline
- Comfortable using CRM or sales apps
- Knowledge of plumbing products is strongly preferred
- Existing merchant relationships would be a major advantage
Targets
You will be expected to:
- Complete regular customer visits each week
- Open new merchant accounts
- Build a strong sales pipeline
- Grow territory revenue month-on-month
- Maintain accurate CRM records after every visit
