Location: SGS Oakhanger, Hampshire, GU35 9HU
Salary: Competitive salary plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Perm/FT/ 39 hours - Participation in an on-call rota providing 24-hour call out cover, one week in every four once fully trained. On-call allowance and overtime are paid following site attendance.

As a Multi Skilled Craftsperson in our SDW Facilities Management team, you'll help maintain and improve critical defence infrastructure across the Skynet contract. Through high-quality repairs, proactive maintenance, and building improvement works, you'll ensure facilities remain safe, operational, and ready to support essential services.

What you’ll do as a Multi Skilled Craftsperson

Carry out building fabric repairs and maintenance, including carpentry, basic plumbing, minor electrical works, grounds maintenance, and drainage-related repairs.

Complete planned and reactive maintenance activities, asset replacements, and site improvement projects across the Skynet contract.

Conduct annual building condition surveys, identifying remedial works and proactively delivering solutions.

Manage refurbishment and repair works, including preparing material schedules and maintaining critical spares.

Escort and supervise subcontractors on site while ensuring all work complies with health and safety requirements.

Support the wider Facilities Management team, participate in team briefings, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Does this sound like you?

Experience carrying out building maintenance and repairs across multiple trades, particularly carpentry with additional practical skills in other disciplines.

Ability to work independently, diagnose issues, and identify the most effective repair solutions.

Full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.

Strong commitment to health and safety, with knowledge of relevant legislation and safe working practices.

A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Willingness to travel to other Skynet locations and work away from home for short periods when required.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively. SC clearance will need to be obtained prior to start date.
