McManus Pubs is looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead The Bull Hotel, Stony Stratford.
This is not your average pub management role. The Bull Hotel is a diverse and thriving hospitality business comprising:
- A beautifully refurbished 10-bedroom boutique hotel
- A busy and growing coffee shop
- A versatile function and events space
- The legendary Vaults Bar – renowned for its atmosphere, live entertainment, and reputation as one of the area's most iconic venues
65% of the trade currently comes from wet sales so a strong background in this area is key.
We are seeking a passionate, commercially minded leader who can inspire teams, deliver outstanding guest experiences, and drive the continued success of this unique operation.
The Role
As General Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the venue. You'll lead from the front, creating an exceptional culture for both guests and team members while ensuring every aspect of the business operates to the highest standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring energy, vision, and a genuine passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop teams across the hotel, coffee shop, events business, and Vaults Bar
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and consistently high service standards
- Drive sales and profitability across all revenue streams
- Manage budgets, labour costs, stock control, and financial performance
- Maximise hotel occupancy and function room bookings
- Work closely with local businesses and the community to enhance the venue's reputation
- Develop and implement marketing and promotional activity
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety, licensing, and company procedures
- Recruit, train, and retain high-performing team members
- Create a positive and engaging working environment where people can thrive
What We're Looking For
- Proven General Manager or senior management experience within hospitality
- Experience in a multi-faceted operation including food, beverage, accommodation, and events
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing successful teams
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities
- Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and financial performance
- Ability to work under pressure and solve problems effectively
- A passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences
- Experience with hotel operations would be highly advantageous
- Knowledge of the local area and community engagement is desirable
