Blaze Signs Ltd is a well-respected and established manufacturer based in Broadstairs Kent. Blaze Signs have been established since 1981 and are now the leading signage provider in the UK for well-known retail and other sectors. We have a great opportunity for a metal fabricator to join our Metal Shop team. Salary will depend on skill level and experience and benchmarked for the area.
We are interested in hearing from you if you are local to the area and have some experience of working in manufacturing and we are open to trainees as well as experienced metal workers.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming raw metal materials into finished components and assemblies through various fabrication techniques. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in metalwork, mechanical knowledge, and hands-on skills to contribute to high-quality production processes. The position is fully paid and suitable for those eager to develop their expertise within a dynamic environment.
Skills Based (These will be assessed at a practical interview)
· H&S Knowledge within workplace and machinery
· Tig / Mig welding - use if light gauge sheet material
· ‘Good knowledge’ of CNC Brake Press
· Able to interpret technical drawing for components and requirements
Responsibilities - not limited to
- Provide the correct metal components as per drawings and specifications to assess job requirements.
- Use template, measuring instruments and tools to mark out layout lines and reference points.
- Uses hand or machine tools to bend, roll, fold, press or beat cut sheet metal.
- Assemble prepared parts and joins them by bolting, welding or soldering.
- Finishes product by grinding, filing, cleaning and polishing.
- Repairs of various sign components
- Checks final product to ensure conformity with specifications.
- Follows Health and Safety Instructions and responsible for adhering to policy
- Keeping a tidy bench
- Assisting others when required
Experience - trainees with some knowledge will be considered.
- Proven experience in metal fabrication, including welding, grinding, and working with sheet metal is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge related to tools, tooling, and fabrication processes
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in metalworking environments
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints effectively
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations relevant to fabrication tasks
