Active Staff is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Assistant to join a well-established and fast-growing engineering company.
Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the company’s health and safety activities across multiple sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar Health & Safety role who is looking to develop their career further within the profession.
The Role
You will provide practical and administrative support to the Health & Safety Manager, helping to maintain high standards of health and safety across the business. The role will involve regular travel to multiple sites to carry out inductions and assessments, as well as supporting day-to-day Health & Safety administration.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:00AM to 5:00PM

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Health & Safety Manager with the day-to-day management of Health & Safety activities.
- Conduct site inductions for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Carry out Health & Safety assessments across multiple sites.
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, documentation and reports.
- Complete general Health & Safety administrative duties.
- Assist with monitoring compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Help identify potential hazards and support appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain clear and accurate records using company IT systems.
- Liaise confidently with employees, managers and site personnel.
- Support the Health & Safety Manager with ongoing improvements to Health & Safety processes and standards.
- Travel to different company sites as required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar Health & Safety role.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- A positive, proactive attitude towards Health & Safety.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build good relationships with people at all levels.
- Good administrative and organisational skills.
- Strong computer literacy and confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
- The ability to work independently while also being an effective team member.
- A reliable and professional approach to work.
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within Health & Safety.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own car is essential, as the role involves travelling to multiple sites.
