Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join our catering team at Stour Valley Care Group, working between two care homes. The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills catering expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced but friendly kitchen and contribute to menu development. The successful applicant will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and service excellence.
Duties
- Assist the Head Chefs in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and high standards of food preparation.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen assistants, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring all dishes meet quality standards and presentation requirements.
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items, demonstrating advanced culinary skills and creativity.
- Work across both sites as required
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen efficiency.
- Assist in menu planning, development of new dishes, and seasonal updates.
- Support training programmes for junior staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience within a professional or care home kitchen environment.
- Background in food production, cooking, and food preparation
- Team management skills.
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
- Passionate about culinary arts with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen operations.
