A highly skilled engineer capable of handling full installations independently, delivering high-quality terminations, leading small teams, and mentoring junior staff. Can handle most site-level challenges with minimal oversight.
Must have their own van and tools (including hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments).
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Assign responsibilities, oversee small installation teams, and make sure work adheres to project standards and deadlines.
- Advanced Installation: Complete structured cabling configurations, including rack organization, labeling, and patch panel termination.
- Device Configuration & Mounting: Install and set up network equipment in accordance with design documents, including switches, APs, CCTV systems, and NVRs.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct comprehensive cable certification testing, find and fix problems with network or device connectivity.
- Site Coordination: Communicate with clients and project managers to verify installation specifics, modifications, and completion dates.
- Quality Assurance: Verify the neatness and conformance of terminations, labeling, and mounting work.
- Asset Management: Verify that all finished work, including device IDs, cable routes, and test results, is appropriately entered into the Asset Management System.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safe work procedures and make sure that site and business rules are followed.
- Mentoring: Educate and mentor FE-L1 and FE-L2 engineers in safety procedures and technical abilities.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform any other duties necessary to successfully finish installations.
Qualifications:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
- IT Related Certifications? (preferred)
- ECS/ CSCS Health and Safety / Health Insurance card is a must
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
