JPS is a growing powered access hire company supplying a wide range of equipment, including scissor lifts, boom lifts and other access equipment across the South East.
We pride ourselves on providing safe, reliable and high-quality equipment to our customers. As our fleet continues to grow, we are looking for a PDI Engineer to join our workshop team in Harlow, Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a practical mechanical or electrical background who is looking to develop their career within the powered access industry.
The Role
As a PDI Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring that our machines are safe, reliable, clean and ready for our customers before they leave the depot.
Working as part of our workshop team, you will carry out detailed pre-delivery inspections on powered access equipment, identify any defects or issues and ensure that machines meet the required standards before being released for hire.
You will work alongside experienced engineers and receive full training on powered access equipment, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress into an engineering role.
Key Responsibilities
· Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on powered access equipment.
· Complete inspection and PDI checklists accurately and thoroughly.
· Check machines are safe, clean, fully operational and ready for hire.
· Identify mechanical, electrical and operational faults.
· Report defects and repair requirements to the workshop engineering team.
· Assist with basic mechanical and electrical tasks where appropriate.
· Complete service, inspection and maintenance records accurately.
· Ensure machines are prepared to a high standard before being dispatched to customers.
· Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
· Follow company procedures, health and safety requirements and manufacturer guidance.
· Work closely with engineers, the workshop team and hire desk to ensure equipment is available when required.
· Continue developing your knowledge and technical skills through on-the-job training.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and mechanically minded, with a genuine interest in developing a career within engineering.
Previous experience is preferrable however, full training will be provided.
This role could suit candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including:
· Vehicle or plant mechanics.
· Mechanical or electrical engineering backgrounds.
· Agricultural or construction equipment mechanics.
· Service leavers, particularly those with engineering, REME or technical experience.
· Technicians looking to move into the powered access industry.
· Experienced maintenance or workshop technicians.
· Practical candidates with strong mechanical aptitude who are looking for their next career opportunity.

· Ability to follow inspection procedures and checklists.
· Ability to identify and report faults accurately.

Desirable Experience
Previous experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
· Powered access / MEWPs.
· Plant or construction equipment.
· Vehicle mechanics.
· Mechanical or electrical maintenance.
· Hydraulic systems.
· Battery/electrical systems.
· Pre-delivery inspections or equipment inspections.
