As we continue to invest in and improve our manufacturing operations, we are looking to recruit an experienced Production Controller to join our team. Reporting to the Production Manager, this is a key role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of production through effective planning, purchasing, stock control and operational administration. The successful candidate will also play an important part in driving continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes and supporting the efficient operation of the business.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of production planning and manufacturing processes. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive, with excellent communication skills and a passion for improving systems and processes.
Experience within the agricultural machinery or engineering sectors would be advantageous but is not essential. More importantly, we are looking for someone with initiative, a willingness to learn, and an interest in understanding our products, customers and markets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Play a key role within the production team, continually improving processes and procedures to maximise operational efficiency.
- Manage the purchasing function by placing purchase orders and liaising with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered on time and production schedules are maintained.
- Maintain accurate stock records, product costs and purchasing information within the ERP system.
- Plan and schedule materials for the in-house machining facilities.
- Test and validate new Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure production readiness.
- Raise, issue and monitor shop floor works orders.
- Prepare monthly working hours reports for shop floor staff to support payroll administration.
Health & Safety Administration
- Maintain the company training matrix, ensuring employee training records remain accurate and up to date.
- Arrange new starter, refresher and compliance training where required.
- Coordinate quarterly Health & Safety meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes and tracking actions.
Facilities & Maintenance Administration
- Maintain service and inspection schedules for company equipment and facilities.
- Monitor planned maintenance activities to ensure servicing and inspections are completed on time.
- Record equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs with internal teams and external service providers.
- Maintain a register of approved suppliers for facilities maintenance and servicing.
- Coordinate quarterly Facilities & Maintenance meetings, including preparing agendas, recording minutes and tracking actions.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a production planning, production control or manufacturing administration role.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and experience using ERP systems. Experience of SYSPRO would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven planning, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive approach with a genuine interest in improving systems and processes.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- A positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude.
- A willingness to learn about our products, customers and markets.
