We are now recruiting an experienced and compassionate Deputy Manager to join our friendly team.
Purpose of the Role
Supporting the Registered Manager in the safe, compliant, day-to-day running of the home, the Deputy Manager provides visible leadership and guidance to staff, promotes a positive and accountable culture, and helps maintain compliance with current health and social care regulations and CQC standards. The Deputy Manager is prepared to act as responsible person in the Registered Manager's absence and contributes to the home's ongoing improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Support compliance with health and social care legislation, CQC standards, safeguarding procedures, and accurate record-keeping.
Provide visible, hands-on leadership; on floor days, run the floor in a similar capacity to a Senior Care Assistant, supporting and guiding the care team.
Assist with recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and training of staff, ensuring safe staffing levels across shifts.
Oversee person-centred care planning, dignity, and quality of care, including handovers, documentation, and continuity of care.
Support health, safety, and infection control procedures, including risk assessments and incident reporting.
Support safe medication management and monitor residents' health, escalating concerns to healthcare professionals as needed.
Build strong relationships with residents, families, and professionals, supporting complaint handling and feedback.
Assist the Registered Manager with budgeting, resourcing, and business continuity matters.
Shift Pattern
Shifts will vary around 7:00am-2:15pm and 2:00pm-9:15pm, with one office day per week and alternate weekends.
What We're Looking For
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care required; NVQ Level 3 preferred (or working towards).
Substantial experience in residential or dementia care, including supervisory experience.
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Working knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, and mental capacity principles.
Experience with medication management and care documentation.
