Overview
We are looking for a Junior M&E professional to join the team delivering a major data centre project for an international client based in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the early stages of their career who has gained approximately 18 months to 3 years’ experience within an M&E construction or engineering environment and is looking to develop their experience within the fast-growing data centre sector.
Working alongside experienced project and M&E professionals, the successful candidate will support the coordination and delivery of mechanical and electrical packages, working closely with contractors, consultants, specialist subcontractors and the wider client team.
The role will provide exposure to a technically complex, high-profile project and would suit someone who is proactive, organised and keen to develop their career within M&E and data centre delivery.
Responsibilities
- Support the commercial management of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) packages on a major data centre project.
- Assist with the preparation of cost plans, budgets and project forecasts.
- Support the procurement and commercial management of M&E subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with the preparation, review and administration of tender documentation and subcontract packages.
- Undertake measurements and valuations of works completed on site.
- Assist with the assessment of subcontractor applications, variations and change orders.
- Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and commercial updates for the project team and client.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, commitments and variations.
- Assist with identifying and reporting potential commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with the M&E, project management and construction teams to understand project progress and its commercial impact.
- Attend project, commercial and subcontractor meetings where required.
- Support the commercial team through the final account and project close-out process.
- Develop an understanding of the commercial and contractual requirements associated with data centre and mission-critical projects.
Experience
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related commercial construction discipline.
- Must have MEP Experience.
- Approximately 18 months to 2 years’ post-graduate experience within Quantity Surveying.
- Previous exposure to M&E / Building Services is required.
- Experience within a contractor, consultancy or specialist M&E environment would be considered.
- Data centre experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Good numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a project team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage with contractors, consultants and client representatives.
- Ambition to develop a career as an M&E Quantity Surveyor within the data centre sector.

Pay: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
